Episode 29 is up.

While I was slightly disappointed with the scene between Bradley and Ed (I felt it moved a bit too fast), seeing Dr. Knox in action was pretty awesome.

Anyways, next episode is a solid flashback that I know some of you are looking forward to Spoiler: especially since there won't be any substantial action for a good while to come.

Also make sure to watch to the end of the episode, as there are a couple of scenes afterwords that are fairly important.

Grr... FUNimation just started putting commercials in the middle of the episodes. And dangit, it's always the same commercial, and it's for COVERGIRL of all things! X-X

You got that too? They're also in the One Piece simulcast, same commercials (though I saw ONE for Windows 7, rest are all Covergirl)

It's irritating, to say the least. I'd be fine with a commercial at the start, maybe one at the actual eyecatch break, but in the middle of a scene? That ruins stuff right there. I hope that this is still in the early stages and they work on making them less intrusive.

You guys were lucky. I ended up with some ads about Finding Jesus.

Oh well. I'll still put up with this since its still otherwise free and legal.

Chapter 30

Well, consdering that they covered an entire freaking volume from start to finish in less than 24 minutes, that was impressively well packaged. I was only dissapointed by three things:

-The scene between Knox and Marcoh wasn't there. It didn't exactly serve any relevant purpose, but it was a nice rough kick in the balls to illustrate how much everyone involved hated themselves for it.
-The scene between Kimblee and Armstrong wasn't there either. Again, nothing you didn't see elsewhere, but it was another ballcrusher that also accentuated Kimblee's assholery.
-Basque Gran's full scene wasn't there. Once again, nothing relevant to the story itself, but I really liked how the manga portrayed as a totally different person from the first anime, sort of like trying to redeem the character. As it stands, people will just remember him as the violent asshole from the first series.

Also, uh, they showed Riza's back... and then didn't make any mention of what it was. I supposed they'll sneak that scene back in later or something, otherwise it'd seem pretty odd.

A shame that stuff was left out, I especially missed the bit of Armstrong struggling with his conscience, and Kimbley being... well, Kimbley.

Luckily the last part of that volume was already shown, the big dealing with Scar's past and how he killed Winry's parents was done out of order.

So we rather quickly brush past Vol 15, and now move into Vol 16. Or should I say, Vol 16's AWESOMENESS. For now we finally get to see Spoiler: Olivier Armstrong.

Can't waaaaaiiiiiit.

Also, once again, there's a bit of episode right after the credits and right before the preview. I guess they'll be doing this from now on.

Chapter 31: Mostly transitory stuff. Still, it was interesting enough, this and 32 are buildup for the next arc anyway. It was funny to see Madam Christmas and the brothel ahead of time and Kimblee being... Kimblee. Next chapter should be pretty calm as well, Spoiler: except for all the brickshitting that will come from revealing Pride :P

Finally got around to watching episode 31 but man, the dialog in that scene between Knox and his family was just terrible. The scene itself is 'dawww' but having an adult respond to his father admitting he just saved two lives with a phrase equivalent to "I want to be a doctor just like you dad." is just plain silly. But again still a 'dawww' moment. And speaking of Knox, as this episode proved, volume 15 wasn't entirely crammed into one episode. Just the stuff that couldn't be transplanted elsewhere.

Also, Spoiler: I don't think Pride will be revealed just yet. If I recall he isn't revealed until like half way through the Fort Briggs arc. Maybe episode 33 or something like that.

I saw that scene as the son being unsure what to say about his chosen profession because of the toll it took on his dad. The kids brightened up when Knox mentioned he had treated two live patients, which suggests he hadn't done so in almost all the years they've known him.

Whatever his history is, it clearly affected his ability to heal people.

You might wanna read these three. It's one of the few scenes cut from the Ishval flashback and it sums up quite nicely the deal with Knox: He hates his own guts and thinks he's got no right to treat human beings. Ignore the last panel, that's Riza talking with Roy.

Yeah, as SE says there was a bit more development of Knox (Knocs?) in the Manga. But that's been happening throughout, little bits and pieces being left out.

I'm enjoying the heck out of Brotherhood, but the manga is still the superior version of FMA.

Episode 32 is up.

I had forgotten just how awesome General Grunman was.

Anyways next episode is the start of the Fort Briggs arc. That means we finally get to see Spoiler: Olivier Armstrong, the rest of the Fort Briggs crew, and more of Kimblee being Kimblee.

Also since it seems like we're back to single chapter per episode rate we probably won't see Spoiler: Pride's Reveal anytime soon.

It was great, I can't wait for the stuff coming up.

Though I'm surprised by what they added to this episode. In the manga Ed and Al never go to Bradley's home, they talk with Selim and his mother at the library itself. Not to mention Bradley never shows up, so that little bit they threw in made things a little extra tense, and let the Fuhrer remind the brothers that he has them by the balls.
